1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using AI Scanner ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of the Service

AI Scanner is a local-first document scanning application that provides document scanning, image enhancement, OCR, searchable PDF generation, document management, export and sharing, and an optional AI Summary feature.

3. Eligibility

You represent that you are legally permitted to use the App under the laws applicable to you. If you are under the age required to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction, use the App only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.

4. License

Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal or lawful business purposes.

You may not:

  • copy, modify, or redistribute the App except as permitted by law;
  • reverse engineer or attempt to extract proprietary code except where applicable law allows;
  • use the App for unlawful activities;
  • interfere with the App or misuse its functionality.

5. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • the documents you scan or import;
  • ensuring you have permission to process or share those documents;
  • complying with applicable privacy, copyright, employment, and confidentiality obligations.

Do not use the App to violate the rights of others.

6. AI Summary Feature

The AI Summary feature is optional.

When you choose to generate a summary:

  • OCR text from the selected document is transmitted to Google's Gemini API;
  • original scanned images are not intentionally transmitted by the App;
  • AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies and should be reviewed before relying upon it.

You remain solely responsible for decisions made using AI-generated output.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, its branding, design, and software are owned by the developer or licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You retain ownership of the documents and content you create, scan, import, or export using the App.

8. Third-Party Services

Certain features rely on third-party services, including Google ML Kit and the Google Gemini API. Their availability and terms may change independently of this App.

9. Availability

We may update, modify, improve, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" to the maximum extent permitted by law.

We do not warrant that:

  • the App will always be error-free;
  • AI-generated summaries will always be accurate or complete;
  • the App will meet every user's requirements.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

  • loss of documents caused by device failure or user actions;
  • indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages;
  • losses resulting from reliance on AI-generated summaries;
  • losses arising from third-party services.

Users are encouraged to maintain backups of important documents.

12. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by the AI Scanner Privacy Policy.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.

We may restrict access where required by law or to protect the integrity of the App.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer operates, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection laws.
